The July AGM for Rainbow Auckland was an opportunity to thank outgoing President, Heather Carnegie, appoint a new President, Craig Bonnington and a diverse range of fresh faces on the Exec.
Over the past two years, Heather has worked extremely to build a strong team on the Exec and spear head the name and strategic direction change from GABA to Rainbow Auckland. Other achievements included a much needed revamp of the constitution and events like the Glam Zone and Charity Auction. Another highlight was the recent gala to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Homosexual Law Reform Bill. Thanks to Heather, Rainbow Auckland is certainly on a journey of progressive improvement.
New President, Craig Bonnington said he was thrilled to be nominated for the role after nearly 10 years in various roles on the exec. Craig comes with a wealth of previous experience including running the membership team for 3 years, heading up the ANZ Pride Network, volunteering and sitting on the board for Outline. Craig says that have recently started his own business as a Mortgage Adviser he will be relying heavily on the exec team to be the eyes and ears for Rainbow Auckland.
With a clear and simple list of key objectives including bedding in the new look Rainbow Auckland and broadening the look, feel and experience for all members, he wants to see a more diverse range of individuals and affinity groups within the wider LGBTI community participate in and benefit from Rainbow Auckland.
A strong focus will be on maintaining and building on a range of specific events and services to cater and add value to community groups, business and corporate members is just as important as it always has been.
Supporting Craig is a strong and diverse team which you can check out, here.
